The Bristol brand is an obscure and elite, elusive but persistent, small but still surprisingly powerful British automaker.

Bristol Buses are the result of a 1945 post-war joint venture between Bristol Airplane (BAC) and AFN Ltd. The end of World War II led to a shortage of aircraft and ammunition, forcing many factories to close or convert their assembly lines to meet new needs.

Keeping an eye on new opportunities for the use of surplus labor acquired during the war, BAC opened its own bus division in collaboration with AFN. The Aldington brothers HJ and AD were deprived of the privilege of full leadership of their company after Reginald Verdon-Smith and George Middleton White became board members. Both were the sons of BAC directors. HJ Aldington ultimately lost out to Reginald, who was elected chairman, while the former was named the company's new managing director.

The doubledecker - Lodekka by Bristol in London, the bus was hardly used and received much less fame. Although in design it was in no way inferior to competitors, and in many respects surpassed them. The Lodekka itself was an improved version, the K series. The name was chosen due to the prestige of the experimental Lowbridge series of machines that Bristol produced. The idea was in a relatively low (4.05 m) double-decker bus body, which made it possible to use it more widely, regardless of bridges and railway crossings. Despite the apparent advantages, the inconvenience of low ceilings did not allow them to become popular.

Bristol is the only brand that promotes itself through direct contact with its customers. His cars are still handcrafted and take four times as long to produce as conventional production.
